From Sterling Smith's world-champion Loot N' Booty BBQ team out of Arizona comes the blend that started life as a competition pork rub — including a first-place pork call at the 2016 Jack Daniel's World Invitational — before the team realised it made everything taste better and named it accordingly.

The flavour

Sweet up front from sugar and brown sugar, savoury garlic-onion depth through the middle, and a gentle chilli-paprika warmth with natural mesquite and hickory smoke on the finish. Balanced enough for daily use, dialled enough for comp day.

How to cook with it

• Pork — ribs, pulled pork and chops, its championship home turf
• Chicken, beef and seafood straight over the grill

Ingredients & Dietary

Ingredients: Sugar, salt, spices including chili pepper, dehydrated garlic, onion and bell pepper, paprika, monosodium glutamate, brown sugar, garlic powder, extractives of paprika (colour), natural mesquite and hickory smoke flavours, and no more than 2% tricalcium phosphate (anti-caking).

Dietary: Gluten friendly (as stated by the brand). Contains MSG — always check the physical label.
